A.R. Rahman wins award for 'Aadujeevitham' background score at Hollywood Music in Media Awards

A.R. Rahman has been honored with the prestigious Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) 2024 for his background score in Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life. The award, in the Independent Film (Foreign Language) category, was accepted on his behalf by director Blessy at a grand ceremony in Los Angeles.

Based on Benyamin’s acclaimed 2008 Malayalam novel, the film recounts the true story of Najeeb, a Malayali immigrant laborer in Saudi Arabia. The Malayalam film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jimmy Jean-Louis, K.R. Gokul, and Amala Paul.

Rahman’s composition stood out among strong contenders, including Segun Akinola (Girl You Know It’s True), Arli Liberman and Tiki Taane (Ka Wahawhai Tonu), Hao-Ting Shih and Tae-Young Yu (Mongrels), Karzan Mahmood (The Seed of the Sacred Fig), and Sandro Morales-Santoro (The Shadow of the Sun).

Released in theaters on March 28, 2024, Aadujeevitham is now streaming on Netflix. This HMMA victory marks a major milestone for the film, boosting its chances for global recognition and positioning it as a strong contender for the Oscars.
