Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja continues its strong performance at the China box office. After impressive paid previews, the film has maintained its momentum throughout the weekdays, closing its opening week on a high note. Nearing the 50 crore mark in China, the film has also reached a major global milestone, with worldwide collections now crossing 150 crores.
As of day 9, the film’s total at the China box office stands at $6.71 million (56.80 crores). Adding this to its phase one collections, Maharaja has achieved a new feat at the global box office.
During its initial run, the film earned 109.13 crore gross. With the updated Chinese total of 41.09 crores, the worldwide collection has now reached 150.22 crore gross, making it Vijay Sethupathi’s first solo film to cross the 150 crore mark—a significant achievement in his career.
The Kollywood thriller, which also stars Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, and Natarajan Subramaniam, was declared a super hit in India. Made on a modest budget of 20 crores, the film earned 71.30 crore net domestically.
